Goodbye Denmark!

The last few months we've spent in Viborg at the Animation Workshop were so wonderful, it still feels like a dream. I learned a lot, met amazing people, saw beautiful places and had the best time ever. I'd like to thank everyone who's been there for making all my days bright. Farvel Danmark!

Done!

Mime turnaround from VPetra on Vimeo.

My final image is finished! The presentation was yesterday and everybody did a great job. I got great feedbacks which makes me very happy, I loved to work on this project. You can also see poses and a turntable move of Jean Pierre, a lighting thumbnail for my scene and a couple of objects sculpted and painted in Mudbox. I still have some issues with the colors though, it tends to look very different on each display especially in Windows 7 which pulls up the contrast way too much creating an awful look.

Jean Pierre

Head turn from VPetra on Vimeo.

He's getting close to a finished version. I modelled the head in Maya then sculpted it in Mudbox.

Jam Night

Every month there's a jam night at Paletten when local people come together to play some music and sing. This time she was my favourite.

Mudbox fun

Last week's tool was Mudbox and we had a day to play around in it. This is the result, I did the painting on the weekend. It's a pity I didn't have a more clear concept in mind, it turned out to be too regular. I should have pushed it more.

Beautiful Denmark

SketchCrawl & weekly croquis

Afternoon light

Now that at the dorm my computer is next to the window I can finally paint objects in natural light by just taking a look outside. I made this one in two and a half hours using nothing but a wacom tablet and my own eyes. At last! :)

Environment

I'm getting late with my posts...so this is where I've been about two weeks ago. Had a week to figure out the composition and the values for the thumbnail, then it took me another 4 days to model the whole environment in Maya. I had a great time during these modules, I've learned a lot already and it's still not halftime. Right now I'm working on the character, hopefully I can post some new stuff soon :)

Maquette

Last week was about character design. It's really helpful to make a sculpture before starting to build your character in Maya, so that you can see how forms and proportions work in 3 dimensions. Ok, so these pictures are quite the same, sorry for that, but anyways, I had 2 and a half days to make it, although I could work on it at least for another week, so it's not even close to a finished piece. I also got to mention that I added the hands in the last minute just to have them, that's why they look so ugly.

Park

I love being home again and take long walks in the park nearby. Now I got the time to paint my favourite spots so I went out, took some photos, made some drawings and color sketches and finished them up digitally. I wish if I could take my tablet out and paint plein air!
